Good Reads Summary
Derailed by Alyssa Rose Ivy

When you're lost, sometimes the only place you can go is home.

Broken over the death of her fiancé, Molly leaves law school to return to her childhood home in North Carolina. Expecting to lay low until she can figure out what else to do with her life, she finds herself in the arms of her high school sweetheart, the boy who represents everything from the past she tried to leave behind.

Looking for an escape, she instead finds a way back to the girl she almost forgot existed and a future she never dreamed possible.
My Thoughts
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Huh, that was quick… I didn’t think this would be a straightforward romance but it is with a lead who’s suffered the same thing twice already. the thing is I can’t say I loved this one simply because the love interest is a pansy ass, pining boy. This despite memories of him making him out to be more (or less depending on your view of things.) More if you’re into the bad boy in a band tough guy, less if you factor in his having been high all the time. Perhaps pansy ass is too strong a descriptive? But my point is if a girl pining for a boy is annoying, what’s to stop it from being such with the boy doing it?

Now, the lead is not in a good place when we meet her, but other than being sad. sad. sad all the time she didn’t do that many things that wanted me to smack myself for reading it. Save sad, she’s lost too… she’s figuring out where to next, and this is what leads her home. Her being in her hometown brings up all these memories and it was sweet but annoying too. Sweet, because obviously little had changed but annoying too… because little had changed! Five years in all's the same!

It’s a sweet story and that’s about it.
