Through the Ever Night by Veronica Rossi

Through the Ever Night (Under the Never Sky, #2)
Good Reads Summary
Through the Ever Night by Veronica Rossi

It's been months since Aria last saw Perry. Months since Perry was named Blood Lord of the Tides, and Aria was charged with an impossible mission. Now, finally, they are about to be reunited. But their reunion is far from perfect. The Tides don't take kindly to Aria, a former Dweller. And with the worsening Aether storms threatening the tribe's precarious existence, Aria begins to fear that leaving Perry behind might be the only way to save them both.

Threatened by false friends, hidden enemies, and powerful temptations, Aria and Perry wonder, Can their love survive through the ever night?

In this second book in her spellbinding Under the Never Sky trilogy, Veronica Rossi combines fantasy and dystopian elements to create a captivating love story as perilous as it is unforgettable.

My Thoughts
My rating: 3.5 of 5 stars

Well now, look at what I loved! Perry’s OK and all, but Roar… is Roar. That one big positive aside, I did like most everything of where the story has gone, on all their ends.

…How Perry’s struggling to be the leader he’s meant to be.
…How Aria’s struggling to do what needs to be done next.
…Or how Roar’s not at all unsure about what he is supposed to do.

And then those little glimpses into Cinder and his not so little fears… then the Tides too and how complicated being a part of that bigger whole was for all of them, especially for those at the top.

It’s gotten more complicated and the little doubts that sprang out of the do I, does he, does she? goings on felt old hat, but expected some how because obviously things were never going to come easy for them. And look at that, once again, I find myself zeroing in on the romance. I really must stop this tendency of mine because outside that bit, the world they’re in is a bit clearer to me.

The divides among people, the banding together and swearing to this or that and working toward survival, then stronger factions and a bloodthirsty leader too… all that was interesting. Though, I’d have loved to have more detail. Because based on all that you can see how this one really isn’t just about Perry-loves-Aria. Their world’s on the brink (again) and people are scrambling to figure out their next move as well as and convincing the rest to pick a side. All that? Very, very good IMO and different by making this more than romance set in a YA dystop.

The one thing this has done is made me more curious about the other people beside Perry and Aria, Roar and Liv and who they were had me paying attention even all those sworn to Perry… why was that the case again? Plus that ending... wow is all.

Good follow up.
Thank you Edelweiss!
